The European Molecular Biology Laboratory has launched an online compound database of information on the properties of over 500,000 drug and drug-like small molecules and their targets, including genomic and chemical data, for use in drug discovery research.
Hosted by EMBL's European Bioinformatics Institute, the ChemBLdb holds genomic and chemical data that can be used to help determine whether a particular molecule has the correct sequences to make an effective drug. EMBL-EBI also has released an integrated resource for sequence, compound, and screening data for protein kinases. The ChemBLdb is funded with support from Wellcome Trust, according to EMBL-EBI.
