e2v aerospace and defense, Inc. and Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. announced today an agreement for e2v to extend the life of a wide variety of Maxim ICs in hermetic and metal can packages used in an array of military and aerospace programs.

This new agreement combines Maxim’s Obsolescence Mitigation (OM) program and e2v’s Semiconductor Lifecycle Management (SLiM™) program to deliver long-term product solutions to mil/aero contractors, enabling them to avoid costly redesigns and continue the production and support of critical programs. Devices covered in this new agreement include popular analog switches, analog MUXs, voltage converters/references and a variety of other key Maxim products.

In 2010, e2v announced its SLiM™ program, offering a new approach to obsolescence management and mitigation. One of the key tenets of this program is establishing agreements with original semiconductor suppliers, where e2v is able to offer services which extend the life of key components for military and aerospace programs.

“We are very focused on extending long-term support for military and aerospace programs as evidenced by our new OM program for COTS devices,” said Ken Huening, Vice President, Automotive & Military Business Unit at Maxim. “This new agreement with e2v allows us to add long-term production for all of our ceramic, metal can, and Mil-Spec devices, so that customers are assured of the ability to procure key devices over extended product lifetimes.”

Bob Tavares, President, e2v aerospace and defense commented, “We continue to add additional agreements with original semiconductor suppliers to provide long-term support for ceramic and Mil-Spec devices as part of our comprehensive SLiM program;” adding, “we are excited to add the extensive line of Maxim products to the lineup of over 3,700 SMD qualified products that we offer today.”
