Sanofi-Aventis SA (SASY.PA) has made an informal approach to Genzyme Corp (GENZ.O), but no deal is imminent, a source familiar with the situation said on Friday.

The two companies have not yet discussed a price tag or management structure, said the source, who cautioned that a deal could fail to emerge.
