| Job description | I currently have a technician position available in my laboratory in the Division of Bacterial and Rickettsial Diseases at the Walter Read Army Institute of Research, Silver Spring, MD. If you know of qualified persons who might be interested in research concerning immunology of bacterial vaccine and who are looking for a position, please convey this message. For the past several years, my group has been developing antigen protein array of bacteria and primarily screening them for antigenicity against cells and serum from experimentally infected animals and patients in order to identify the principle antigens that elicit an cellular immunity from cells or that are recognized by antibodies. In parallel, we have been conducting studies in human and rodent models of immune modulation induced by recombinant protein. Our most recent research involves studies of Th1-type cellular immune response induced by selected bacterial antigens may be, in part, responsible for the prevention of intracellula bacteria caused infection. Thus, the focus of the current work is to develop new version of recombinant vaccine and therapeutic reagents in human subjects. | |
| Qualification | The technologist candidate, with either BA/BS or MS degree in biological sciences, should demonstrate computational and organizational skills and be able to work in a subordinate capacity with an investigator in a flexible time frame. The projects will demand working with mice, rats, rabbits and monkeys - immunizations/organ removal - as well as with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Prior lab experience is welcomed. | |
