| Job description | DUTIES: An experienced research microbiologist is required to plan, conduct, and evaluate research on the pathology of viral pathogens of interest to the military. Most of the work will be conducted under BSL-4 conditions. In this position there will be a requirement to initiate and conduct research utilizing animals and cell cultures, light and electron microscopy, and immunological techniques including flow cytometry, in situ hybridization, and polymerase chain reaction. Also required will be the ability to investigate animal models of human disease and assess the protective and deleterious effects of the immune response to the disease process. Extensive in-depth experience with the non-human primate animal models of viral hemorrhagic fevers is desired. | Qualification | Ph.D in Microbiology, Immunology, Virology or other related specialty. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) years experience as a Post Doctoral Fellow in infectious disease research. Experience working in BioSafety Level 3 and/or 4. Experience writing animal use protocols.
